Amid a widespread update to collectible coin machines around the Central Florida Disney parks, Disney has replaced the Walt Disney World Railroad-themed medallions with generic ones.Over the last few months, Walt Disney World Resort has slowly been replacing pressed penny and collectible medallion machines around the theme parks, hotels, and Disney Springs with more modern, screen-based dispensers. In most cases, new designs have appeared on the machines, but they’re typically still inspired by the dispensers’ locations.Credit: DisneyHere, though, Walt Disney World Resort replaced Walt Disney World Railroad-themed designs with generic ones. The old bronze coins featured an embossed “Walt Disney World Railroad” insignia and text, with four character options paired with the number of a steam train in service at the Magic Kingdom: Engineer Mickey Mouse (58444), Goofy (42915), Donald Duck (58445), and Minnie Mouse (60598).Now, the machine at the Walt Disney World Railroad station on Main Street, U.S.A., features four designs in gold and silver featuring colorful drawings of Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, and Donald Duck in their standard poses and outfits. The backside features a drawing of Cinderella Castle rather than a Walt Disney World Railroad insignia.
