Yadgir DC orders strict action against illegal clinics, fake doctors - The HinduPublished - September 25, 2026 08:40 pm IST - YadgirRahul Pandve | Photo Credit: File PhotoDeputy Commissioner Rahul Pandve has instructed health department officials to register FIRs and take strict legal action against fake doctors running unauthorised hospitals without the required qualifications in the district.While chairing a review meeting on PC-PNDT, MTP, and COTPA (Tobacco Control Cell) at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office recently, he expressed dissatisfaction with the inaction despite past FIRs and urged seamless coordination with the Police Department.He warned that the performance of the Health Department would be closely monitored going forward. “All hospitals must strictly comply with mandatory registration under the Karnataka Private Medical Establishments (KPME) Act,” the Deputy Commissioner said.Strict monitoring would be in place to prevent the illegal use of ultrasonography for prenatal sex determination. Training workshops will be organised for gynaecologists and radiologists regarding the same. Special focus would be given to Yadgir, Wadagera, and Shorapur taluks to address sex determination, he said.“Pharmacies should be inspected to prevent the unauthorised sales of Medical Termination of Pregnancy pills without valid medical prescriptions,” Mr. Pandve said.He called for enforcement against unlicensed tobacco vendors and the immediate cancellation of licenses for shops operating within a 100-meter radius of educational institutions.During the meeting, officials reported that 1,241 schools and 68 colleges in the district have already been declared tobacco-free educational institutions.Additional Superintendent of Police Dharanesh, District Health and Family Welfare Officer Mahesh Biradar, District Surveillance Officer M.S.
