The veteran threw for 111 yards and an interception, with a 37.3 passer rating.Those numbers won’t be enough to get the Giants to the playoffs, and Coach Harbaugh has not ruled out bringing in a new quarterback to challenge for the starting spot.“You know, I think I would probably,” he said about adding a reinforcement.“But you’ve kind of got to go with what’s available as well. And you never know, if a younger guy becomes available that’s interesting, that would fit — and I think we’re looking at all that.”With the door open to a quarterback change in New York, talkSPORT has explored three options that Harbaugh could trade for to keep the Giants in the playoff hunt this season.Shedeur Sanders – Cleveland BrownsIn what has come as a shock to many, it’s taken the Cleveland Browns just two weeks to pick up their first win of the 2026 season.The Giants could offer Sanders a fresh start in the NFLGettyThat means, for now, Deshaun Watson is the undoubted starting QB, and Shedeur Sanders will be warming the bench. One of the most talked about rookies coming into the NFL last year, Sanders has failed to establish himself in Cleveland to date, and would surely jump at the chance of, once again, challenging for a starting spot. He failed in that competition in 2025, losing to Joe Flacco and Dillon Gabriel, before being passed over as starter again this season.Watson, with one win to his name already, will fancy his chances of keeping that spot with the Browns, while the Giants would offer Sanders a chance to kick-start his career in the absence of Dart. Cleveland would likely listen to trade offers, and it probably wouldn’t take all that much to land a quarterback that was drafted in the fifth round in 2025. Anthony Richardson – Indianapolis ColtsIt’s no secret that Anthony Richardson wants out of Indianapolis. Richardson’s NFL career to date has not gone to plan, and he wants out of IndyGettyDaniel Jones is the unquestioned starting quarterback for the Colts, and signed an $88 million contract last offseason. Richardson, the fourth overall pick of the 2023 draft, has struggled to get his career going.He won the backup job in Indy against Riley Leonard this summer, but Dart’s injury means he could finally get his trade wish.The 24-year-old could compete with Winston for the starting role in New York, and might well fancy his chances of winning it.Richardson is backup to Jones on the Colts, but has previously requested a tradeGettyWhile not a veteran QB, Richardson would make an interesting redemption project.The downside, of course, is that he’s rarely featured across the last two seasons.Any trade would see Richardson arrive as a developmental piece, rather than a plug-and-play option, which is what the Giants really need.Joe Flacco – Cincinnati BengalsHarbaugh has hopes of winning a Super Bowl with the Giants, and could turn to a familiar face to help make that happen. Flacco is one of the NFL’s most experienced veterans and is currently backup to BurrowGettyFlacco played under Harbaugh for 11 seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, and together, they lifted the Lombardi in Super Bowl XLVII.At 41 years old, Flacco is a true veteran of the game, and would be an ideal candidate to steady the Giants ship in the short term.He did the same for the Cincinnati Bengals last season, when Joe Burrow went down with injury. While the team missed the playoffs, Flacco himself had some impressive moments, and has taken his position as backup after signing a $6m ahead of the 2026 season. Flacco and Harbaugh won the Super Bowl together on the RavensGettyIf he wishes to see substantial time on the field in what could be his final NFL season, a reunion with Harbaugh on the Giants would make a lot of sense. Prising him away from Cincinnati, though, would likely be a struggle. Given Burrow’s previous injury issues — and the fact the Bengals have no other QBs listed on their roster — makes a trade unlikely for now.
