Two Maltese LGBTIQ organisations have gathered outside the Turkish Embassy in Malta in solidarity with LGBTQIA+ people, activists and organisations in Türkiye. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Lovin Malta (@lovinmalta)Allied Rainbow Communities (ARC) and the Malta LGBTIQ Rights Movement (MGRM) held the action following what they described as recent raids by Turkish authorities targeting LGBTIQ organisations and community spaces.Citing Amnesty International, the groups said dozens of people have been detained, while activists have been placed in pre-trial detention and restrictions have reportedly targeted organisations, activists and online platforms.“LGBTQIA+ rights are human rights. Being who you are is not a crime. Activism is not a crime. Love is not a crime,” the Maltese organisations said.They expressed solidarity with people in Türkiye campaigning for equality, freedom of expression and the ability to live openly and safely.“To our LGBTQIA+ siblings in Türkiye: you are not alone.
