Former Spurs centre‑back William Gallas has suggested that Tottenham are missing Daniel Levy, pointing to the club’s recent struggles since the chairman’s departure. In the past few months, Tottenham Hotspur have undergone wholesale changes not only on the pitch but also at board level.Several executives have departed N17, while new appointments have been made as Tottenham embarks on a fresh era.The club looks very different to the one that won the Europa League back in 2025, with Spurs selling some of the core of that squad and even dismissing chairman Daniel Levy.Levy spent 24 years at Tottenham, a period that brought only two pieces of silverware and plenty of frustration from fans, who often criticised him for lacking ambition.Credit: @harryphoto.kr / InstagramWilliam Gallas believes Tottenham miss LevySince the departure of the long-serving chairman, Tottenham have shown ambition, particularly in the transfer market, and even managed one of their biggest spending sprees with a £394 million outlay last summer.IncomingsAndrew RobertsonFreeMarcos SenesiFreeMartin DubravkaFreeJan Paul van Hecke£52mMateus Fernandes£85mSandro Tonali£100mSavinho£85mOmar Marmoush£60mTosin Adarabioyo£12mMykhailo MudrykLoanTotal spent£394mOutgoingsLuka Vuskovic£50mWill Lankshear£20mRadu Dragusin£21mAlejo Veliz£7.7mAlfie Devine£6mTynan Thompson£8mManor Solomon£7mCristian Romero£34.1mAshley Phillips£20mDjed Spence£30mKevin Danso£25mPape Matar Sarr£25.6mTotal received£254.8mTottenham’s net spend£139.2mHowever, splashing the cash has not proved a quick fix, with Spurs bottom of the Premier League table after five matches this season. This has now convinced former defender William Gallas that Tottenham are missing Levy.Speaking to talkSPORT, Gallas said when asked if Spurs are missing their former chairman: “I think yeah because okay you know we were complaining about him, you know what he did in the past, but at the same time he did a great job for Tottenham, for the club. New stadium, new training ground – he knew what he was doing.“But right now when you look at the players who play for Tottenham, my question is if they have the quality to play for Tottenham, if they understand what it is to wear the Spurs shirt. “Because when you are on the pitch it is very simple – you have to play for 90, 100 minutes, you have to fight for the shirt you are wearing. That is my question – if those players realise which shirt they are wearing.” View this post on Instagram A post shared by talkSPORT (@talksport)Spurs would have to be patient as they embark on a new era without Daniel LevyIt is difficult to see how things would have been any better had Daniel Levy remained chairman of Tottenham.Even in Spurs’ Europa League-winning campaign, when the former chairman was still at the helm, the Lilywhites struggled domestically, finishing 17th in the Premier League.Levy was also the chairman who appointed Thomas Frank, a decision that did little to improve Spurs’ fortunes, as Frank struggled throughout his seven months in charge. While things have not clicked just yet, it does seem premature to judge whether the new era is another flop. Many fans, however, would have little to complain about regarding Spurs’ summer transfer business – the first without Levy.READ MORE: Pedro Porro posts new update after suspected hamstring injury in Tottenham vs Aston VillaThe post William Gallas says Tottenham miss Daniel Levy despite £394m spending spree appeared first on Spurs Web.
