I'm building Travinera, an iPhone app that answers "is this destination a good idea for us?" for a specific group: passports, kids, diets, mobility. Some things builders might find interesting: - No backend. All data ships as signed SQLite "packs" built from Wikidata, GeoNames, OpenStreetMap/Overture, Wikivoyage and official sources. The app downloads updates in the background and checks signature, size and SHA-256 before swapping them in. - 541,215 searchable places, 39k visa rules, 4,600+ profiled cities, and city guides being built for all of them. - Running cost capped at $35/month (Cloudflare R2 for packs, WeatherKit's free tier for forecasts). - Hand-curated rules (tipping, tourist tax, low-emission zones) are approved by a person before they ship, and each one carries its source and date. - Business model: free, no ads; booking goes to partners through labelled affiliate links.
