He is already proving to be worth every penny.Lankshear has scored six goals in his opening eight matches this season, along with two more in three Carabao Cup games.His impressive form has earned him a call-up to the England U21 side during this international break, and Middlesbrough manager Hellberg has tipped him to reach the very top.Speaking to Teesside Live, Hellberg said: “Like all the lads, he takes his football very seriously. Even in training he gets very, very disappointed when he doesn’t score, which I think all the best goalscorers have. They like to score.“But the good thing about Will is nothing affects the next action. He quickly goes again and puts a miss behind him.“He even celebrates if he scores a small goal on a possession drill – he still celebrates all his goals with a fist. I think that’s why he scores so many goals. Even if he touches the ball very few times in a game… I think it was a stat against QPR where he had four passes and four shots or something like that, but he scored the winning goal.“He’s just brilliant at controlling that side of his game, and also he suits our group very well because I think the players are very good at using him in and around the box. He’s been a good match for us and he really likes to score goals.”Spurs may regret letting Will Lankshear goGiven the striker’s performances, it does feel like a missed opportunity for Tottenham. However, the north London club do have matching rights on any future offers for Lankshear, as well as a 20 per cent sell-on clause that would benefit them regardless of whether they re-sign him or another club does.Hellberg insists the noise around Lankshear leaving Spurs and hitting top form has not affected him: “He handles it very well. I help him as much as possible in different ways – we always do with the players. I think it’s also a massive group to be in where they do a lot of work to push each other and also keep each other on the ground.“I talk to the players all the time too. We have a squad that is totally different in terms of depth than last season, which means that there’s no time for anyone to not do everything they can every minute they’re on the pitch.“I will push him every day, and I have a very good relationship with him. I think he’s a brilliant boy. He went without much of a pre-season, worked very hard, and like everyone, you need to help them in different ways.”He added: “He does his best every training session, and is very good at controlling his emotions because he might not always be heavily involved in the game.“It’s very new for him here, of course, but for the moment, he’s doing everything perfectly. He works very, very hard every day, he helps the squad, he helps the group, he’s supporting the group when someone else plays, which also has been the case.
