Hamirpur Government Polytechnic student Sarvesh Sharma has secured a Rs 3.5-crore Ministry of Defence grant to develop the ‘Rudra Edge T-1 (Spectra)’ drone for the Indian Army. The drone is being designed for border surveillance, with capabilities to evade enemy radar detection and resist jamming attempts. Sharma, who previously built a prototype for Rs 87,000, will develop the advanced drone at an IIT Roorkee incubation centre under the Defence Innovation Organisation (DIO) and iDEX programme, with a 20-month completion target.
