Hit West End musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is officially making its Malta debut this October, bringing its story of identity, acceptance and self-discovery to the local stage.Produced by Revamp MT, the musical will open at Sir Temi Zammit Hall on 31st October for a limited run, following the company’s productions of School of Rock and Amélie.Inspired by the true story of Jamie Campbell, the musical follows 16-year-old Jamie New, who dreams of becoming a drag queen in Sheffield despite facing resistance from those around him. With his mother Margaret and best friend Pritti supporting him, Jamie embarks on a journey of self-discovery as he learns to embrace his identity and take centre stage on his own terms. The Malta production will feature local drag artists Chucky Bartolo and Tristan Zammit alongside UK drag performer Lewis Mullan.Raphael Pace will take on the role of Jamie, with Leontine, Alan Paris, Maria Buckle, Alexia Manduca, Jake Curti and Claudette Pace also joining the cast. Paul Portelli and Lawrence Gray will form part of the ensemble alongside other local performers.Written by Tom MacRae and Dan Gillespie Sells from an idea by Jonathan Butterell, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie became a West End hit before being adapted into a film in 2021.“Jamie is joyful, funny and full of music that stays with you, but underneath is a very human story about identity, acceptance and family, and finding the confidence to stand proudly in who you are,” artistic director Dorothy Bezzina said.“I hope audiences have a brilliant night at the theatre, and leave thinking about the difference acceptance and encouragement can make in someone’s life.”The production will run at Sir Temi Zammit Hall in Msida on 31st October and 6th and 7th November at 8pm, as well as 1st and 8th November at 4pm. Tickets are available through Showshappening.Share this with someone who would be interested in seeing this musical!•
