I made a meal planner: ready-made diets, recipes, shopping lists that build themselves from the plan, 17 languages, and a free tier you can actually use. What is it missing?

Wait 5 sec.

I am a solo developer and I have spent the past year building Dieter, a meal-planning app. It is out on both stores now, and I am posting here because I want it picked apart by people who actually plan their food rather than by other developers. Why I built it: I kept rebuilding the same spreadsheet. A week of meals, then the shopping list underneath it, then recalculating the whole thing because I swapped one dinner. I wanted the shopping list to fall out of the plan by itself, and I wanted to stop guessing how long anything took. What it does - Ready-made plans you can just take. Balanced, keto, low carb, Mediterranean, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, in several calorie levels. Available on the free account, because a planner that shows you an empty week is not much help on day one. - Or build your own, day by day and meal by meal, from a catalogue of recipes and ingredients. You can add your own ingredients with your own macros too. - Shopping lists generated from the plan. Tick things off in the shop, works with no signal, syncs when you get back above ground. - Every recipe says how long it takes, and waiting is counted separately from work. "Under 30 minutes" means thirty minutes standing at the counter. Two hours of marinating is listed as its own line so it cannot quietly hide inside that number. This one took me a stupid amount of time to get right. - A calorie calculator that takes a target weight and a pace, then gives you the daily calories and how many weeks that is. If the pace you picked drops below what is sensible, it clamps it and tells you it did, rather than silently handing you a different number. - Weight tracked over time on a chart. - Export a plan to PDF, so you can print it or send it to someone who does not want another app. - Share a plan or a shopping list with a group, so the household is looking at the same list instead of texting each other about milk. - 17 languages. Pricing, because I hate finding this out after signing up - Free: 5 of your own diets, one group, shopping lists, and the whole ready-made plan library. - Premium: 30 diets, 5 groups, PDF export, change history. - Dietitian: no limits, plus client records, assignments and client groups. The dietitian tier is where the money comes from, and that is deliberate: it is what lets the free tier stay properly usable instead of being a three-day trial wearing a costume. I built it around how I cook, which means I have almost certainly assumed things that are not true for you: intermittent fasting, shift work, cooking for one, allergies I have not thought about, a cuisine the recipe catalogue handles badly. Tell me and I will fix it. I am the only person working on this, so there is nobody for me to forward it to. submitted by /u/leltool [link] [comments]
