As I exclusively revealed over the summer, Spurs and Manchester United both appreciate the player.“He scored 15 goals for Freiburg last season, and he has six goals in seven games already this campaign.“He is big, tall, a target man – a different profile to the kind of striker Tottenham already have. Yet there is no guarantee anything will be possible mid-season.“We will have to understand whether Tottenham are going to be really aggressive for a particular target in the winter market, or if they are going to back what they have and wait until the summer.“My information as of now is that it is not ruled out they could add another source of goals mid-season. But of course, players are harder to get in the winter market than in the summer, because there is less time and clubs are generally less willing to sell mid-season as it can be highly disruptive.“But Igor Matanovic and Tottenham could potentially be one to watch. They are assessing the situation now, and they have plenty of time before the winter market opens. Do not rule out the possibility of Tottenham adding another source of goals mid-season.”Why Spurs must act fast to solve striker shortageIgor Matanovic currently has a €22 million (£18.8m) valuation on Transfermarkt. The 23-year-old striker has also already scored more goals than the entire Spurs forward line this season.As a result, moving quickly in the winter transfer window could prove an ideal strategy for Tottenham given their lack of depth in attack.At present, Omar Marmoush and Dominic Solanke are the only recognised forwards at the club after Richarlison was frozen out and left out of Spurs’ 25-man Premier League squad following his transfer debacle.Solanke often struggles with fitness, and should he pick up an injury, Spurs would be left in a precarious position.Tottenham will be hoping no such setback occurs before the winter window opens.
