NITROGEN (f, 4, Medaglia d'Oro–Tiffany Case, by Uncle Mo) made easy work of an overmatched field in Friday's GII Beldame Stakes at Belmont Park, putting away a pesky Donor Advised (Gun Runner) in her final prep before next month's GI Breeders' Cup Distaff at Keeneland.Allowed to open up naturally from the gate, last year's 3-year-old champion filly put several lengths on her four rivals down the backstretch, stretching out under Jose Ortiz through an opening half-mile in :46.51.Donor Advised, one of two Chad Brown runners, tried to make a race of it at the top of the stretch, coming up just behind the 1-9 favorite but drifting about as Nitrogen began to pull away again with a furlong to run. The top pair separated themselves from the other three but the winner was never in doubt as Ortiz put away his stick and hand rode his filly from the sixteenth pole to the the wire.Donor Advised was several lengths back in second while Boutwell Time (Not This Time) was a mile back in third. The final time was 1:48.36.Lifetime Record: 18-9-6-3. O/B-D. J. Stable, LLC. T-Mark Casse.
