The U.S. Men’s National Team’s 2030 cycle got underway in winning fashion on Saturday. Mauricio Pochettino’s squad used a strong second half to down visiting Peru 4-1 at Inter.co Stadium in Orlando, Florida. 11 of the 13 uncapped players called into September-October’s camp made their senior debuts while Justin Ellis and Julian Hall both found the back of the net. Malik Tillman’s second-half penalty kick boosted the Americans in front after the teams were level at the interval while Sebastian Berhalter wrapped up the scoring with a sublime strike. Ellis gave the USMNT an early 1-0 lead, redirecting Gio Reyna’s free kick with a header into the bottom-right corner. Yoshimar Yotun’s dangerous cross into the USMNT box allowed Lapadula to sneak between Miller and Auston Trusty to head past Matt Freese.It marked Lapadula’s 11th-career international goal.Pochettino made several changes after halftime, with several of them having a vital say on the final scoreline. Mathis Albert drew a penalty kick in the 66th minute and Tillman stepped up to slot it away.
