Hey r/SideProject, I’ve been lurking here for a while and finally decided to share what I’m working on. I’m building something called CriptoBid. The core idea is simple and a bit controversial: it’s a public ranking where the position is determined by who bids the most. No algorithm, no registration, no KYC. The highest bidder takes the top spot. Why? I’ve always been frustrated by how opaque modern rankings are. You never really know why you’re at position 47 on some platform. The algorithm is a black box. So I started thinking: what if the ranking was completely transparent? What if the “vote” was just money, and every transaction was verifiable on-chain? How it works (roughly): · Users bid for their URL with integer amounts starting from $1. · Each bid is limited to 5x the current #1 bid (to prevent runaway pricing). · Payments are verifiable on-chain (TRC-20, BEP-20, Polygon, Solana). · There’s a Weekly Top that resets every Sunday, and a cumulative General Top. · Every payment has a link to a blockchain explorer. Total transparency. I haven’t launched it publicly yet. The app isn’t live. But I’m building it and wanted to share the concept here because this community seems to appreciate honest, weird ideas. My question for you: Does a ranking like this make sense to you? Is “transparency through money” a valid alternative to the algorithm black box, or is it just a different kind of distortion? I’d love to hear your honest thoughts. I’m still shaping the product and feedback from builders here is gold. submitted by /u/rckLink [link] [comments]
