India’s plan to surpass Japan’s E10: India is developing indigenous high-speed bullet trains, with B28 trainsets designed for 280 kmph and expected to begin trials in 2027, while the proposed B35 aims for a design speed of 350 kmph by 2030. The move comes as the Rs 2 lakh crore-plus Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail project progresses, with India also working on domestic train-control technology and planning seven additional high-speed rail corridors.
