DBRC held livelihood support programme for waste and hair pickers in Vijayawada - The HinduUpdated - September 21, 2026 11:29 pm IST - VIJAYAWADAThe Dalit Bahujan Resource Centre (DBRC) organised a special livelihood support programme for waste pickers and hair pickers at the Collectorate in Vijayawada on Monday (September 21, 2026) to strengthen their income-generating opportunities and economic security.As part of the programme, DBRC distributed four-wheeler push carts, aluminium utensils, material for saree vending, and spice vending carts, all worth approximately ₹3.20 lakh, to 40 waste pickers and hair pickers.NTR District Collector G. Lakshmisha, along with Swachh Andhra Corporation chairman K. Pattabhiram, attended as the chief guest. He appreciated the contribution of waste pickers towards maintaining cleanliness in urban and rural areas. Mr. Pattabhiram emphasised the need for coordinated efforts among the government, Swachh Andhra Corporation, and civil society organisations to enhance the welfare of people engaged in these livelihoods.Ch.
