Gaussian Render Capture renders the capture in Blender: cameras on a sphere around the model, one image per camera, exact camera poses and a start point cloud taken from the mesh itself. It writes everything as a standard COLMAP dataset. Results from one dataset (320 views), trained with both tools: - Postshot, on SuperSplat: https://superspl.at/scene/04caae8c - LichtFeld Studio, in the gallery: https://portal.lichtfeld.io/gallery/s/S5BcEp7xgtTaVIfsgpa2ygW0Pg_zsnMm/ What it does - A step-by-step guide inside Blender: seven steps, each with a check. Blue buttons show the next action, red lines show what is missing. - A camera sphere with 20 to 1280 views. Fill Each View and Center in Each View make the model fill and centre every square image. You can use the upper hemisphere or the full sphere. - Start points from all model vertices plus surface points. A GPU visibility filter drops hidden inner parts, which makes a big difference for brick models. - Auto scale for a stable training size. The factor and the matrices go into a JSON file, so you can place the trained splat back onto the model. - Scene versions (Name_v001.blend), each with its own dataset folder, so versions never mix. - Live Camera Adjust: fine-tune one view, or the whole sphere, by looking through the camera. Blender 4.1 or later. I tested it by hand on Windows, and the automated tests pass on Linux and macOS. It is free and open source (GPL-3). GitHub (tutorial, quick start, download): https://github.com/virtualrepublic/Gaussian-Render-Capture The example model is the LDraw version of set 10252 by Roland Dahl (CC BY 2.0). The ray-casting helpers come from Gauss Cannon by Warpgate Labs. Feedback is very welcome, especially from people who use other trainers that read COLMAP (gsplat, Brush, OpenSplat …). I haven't tried those yet. Transparency: developed with Claude Code as a coding assistant. Concept, design decisions, testing and the acceptance of every version are mine. submitted by /u/Renderbricks to r/blender [link] [comments]
