Hey everyone, This is the very first project I'm sharing with the world! I actually vibe-coded FocusONN to solve a personal pain point and have spent the last year tweaking and refining it for my own daily workflow. Like a lot of people, I struggled with standard Pomodoro apps because they only show a generic ticking clock, they don't remind you what you are supposed to be working on. The main problem I ran into was constant context switching. An urgent email pops up, a coworker messages you, or someone drops by your desk. By the time the distraction is over, the timer is still ticking, but you've lost your train of thought and spend 10 minutes trying to remember where you left off. So, I built FocusONN. How It Works Instead of living in a hidden window or tray icon, FocusONN runs as a slim, always-on-top bar at the top edge of your display (40px tall by default). Context + Timer: It displays the exact task you set for your focus session right alongside your Pomodoro countdown. Quick Peek / Hide: If it covers something on your screen that you need to click, a single click on the bar hides it for 10 seconds before it reappears. Session Rhythm: Cycles dynamically through focus time, break time, and completion cues. Privacy & Specs 100% Local & Offline: Works without accounts, sign-ins, or internet access. Nothing leaves your machine. Built With: Electron + React (vibe-coded & refined over the past year). Cost: Completely free / donation-optional. Background & Career Goals Building this app made me realize how much I love the process of taking an idea and rapidly turning it into a working tool. I’m actually hoping to break into roles or freelance work centered around fast app prototyping and workflow automations. If you have feedback not just on the app itself, but on how I can polish my prototyping workflow or portfolio, I’d love to hear it! A Quick Note on Installation (Windows) Because this is my first free solo project, I haven't bought a $100/yr code-signing certificate yet. Windows SmartScreen will show an "Unknown Publisher" warning when you install it. You can bypass this by clicking "More info" -> "Run anyway". If there is enough interest down the road, I’ll gladly pay for the certificate out-of-pocket! Download & Platform Availability Right now, it is optimized for Windows. (If you're on macOS and interested in testing, drop a comment and I can package a macOS build!) Download link: https://jonmus9.itch.io/focusonn Since this is my first time putting a project out there, I’d love to hear your honest feedback, feature ideas, or thoughts on the workflow. Thanks for checking it out! submitted by /u/Ordinary_Arachnid454 [link] [comments]
