Michael Carrick understands the "emotional" reactions to Manchester United's recent struggles, after his decision to withdraw Kobbie Mainoo against Fulham was booed by their travelling fans.With just five points on the board after five games, United have made their joint-worst start to a Premier League campaign, having also taken five at this stage of 2014-15.Things could have been worse for the Red Devils at Craven Cottage on Sunday, too, as Matheus Cunha's deflected strike snatched a point in the 89th minute, after Lisandro Martinez's calamitous own goal had put them on the back foot.With United 1-0 down and chasing the game, Carrick's choice to replace Mainoo with Mason Mount in the 80th minute was loudly jeered by the away end.Mainoo had completed 64 of his 68 passes, 27 of which were in the final third, with only Bryan Mbeumo (100%) and Harry Maguire (95.8%) bettering his 94.1% pass accuracy among United's starters.But Carrick feels that reaction came from a place of frustration and understands the disgruntled feeling among the fanbase."There are always going to be certain reactions when you're making changes," Carrick said. "I've spoken to Kobbie after the game and he's absolutely fine."I understand at times when we are chasing the game, everyone's a little bit emotional. The supporters are – as they should be – desperate for us to do the right thing."But I don't take any negatives or offence to it. I think we've just got to try and keep doing the right things to get back into the game."The supporters were unbelievable, I have to say, all the way through. They stuck with the boys and supported them.
