Bitcoin remains above its base near the mid-$70,000s, built during August.Moving Averages Stay Bullish While Momentum CoolsThirteen of fifteen moving averages tracked on the daily chart are positive. Bitcoin trades above every listed EMA and SMA, from the 10-period up to the 200-period.The only bearish reading is the fast Hull moving average at $81,075. That level sits just above the current price.Oscillators tell a quieter story. The RSI sits at 61, seen as neutral, while the MACD reading is negative.Taken together, the indicators show a market catching its breath rather than reversing. The broader uptrend from a $57,735 low earlier in the year remains unbroken.Institutional Data Send Mixed SignalsSeparate from the price charts, CFTC data released for Sept. 15 showed leveraged funds cut their net-short position in Bitcoin futures by 7,275 BTC-equivalent. That left leveraged funds net short about 32,602 BTC-equivalent.Asset managers moved the other way. Their net-long position fell by 4,733 BTC-equivalent, down to roughly 14,133 BTC-equivalent.Spot Bitcoin ETFs in the US added $592.5 million over Sept. 17 and Sept. 18. The full week ending Sept. 18 brought in only $6.1 million once earlier outflows were counted.These three data sets measure different things over different time windows. They do not show one clear case for stronger institutional buying.At the most recent CryptoSlate update on Sept. 20, Bitcoin traded at $80,338.71 with $22.38 billion in 24-hour volume.
