Councillor Sugathan’s brother arrested for alleged trespass on murder case witness’ house - The HinduUpdated - September 24, 2026 08:00 pm IST - THIRUVANANTHAPURAMThe Vanchiyoor police arrested Sandeep, the brother of Thiruvananthapuram Corporation councillor and KAAPA accused R. Sugathan late Wednesday (September 23), for allegedly trespassing on the residence of a witness in the murder case of RSS worker Ranjith in Mannanthala in 2008.According to the police, Sandeep allegedly entered the house of the witness, who is also a BJP worker, and created a disturbance recently. The police subsequently registered a case based on a complaint regarding the incident.While local BJP workers blamed the CPI(M) for the incident and were preparing to organise protests in the area, the investigation team examined CCTV footage that reportedly established that Sandeep was allegedly the culprit in the case.Police sources stated that the accused was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.The incident occurred as the trial in the Renjith murder case is nearing its conclusion. The court is scheduled to pronounce its verdict within a week.
