Malachi Hardy follows in the footsteps of two other Tottenham youngsters in taking part in England senior first‑team training, despite being away with the youth squad.Club football has paused for three weeks after over a month of action since returning in August. The September international break, longer than usual, should allow Tottenham Hotspur to reset after a difficult start to the 2026-27 season. Spurs are winless in the Premier League after five games and will spend the next three weeks at the foot of the league table, making the break feel even longer. For fans, however, the international fixtures provide some distraction, with 15 Tottenham players away representing their national teams.Credit: @reclusemedia / InstagramTottenham youngster Malachi Hardy trains with England seniorsEngland are among the national sides in action during this break, though Tottenham do not have any of their stars in the senior squad. Djed Spence was the last Spurs player to receive a senior England call-up, having featured at the World Cup.Alasdair Gold has now revealed that Spurs youngster Malachi Hardy was involved in first-team training at St George’s Park on Wednesday, 23 September, despite not being in the senior squad.Hardy impressed for Tottenham during pre-season, playing over 200 minutes of football, and earned a call-up to the England U19s this break. He was drafted into senior training, giving him the chance to work alongside some of the best players in the world, including Harry Kane.Hardy is not the first Spurs youngster to enjoy such an opportunity. Tye Hall joined England senior training in March this year, while Dane Scarlett took part in October 2025 – both while away with the U18 and U21 sides respectively.Gold wrote on X: “Young Spurs centre-back Malachi Hardy training with the England senior squad this afternoon at St George’s Park. He’s come across from the England under-19s. The 18-year-old had a good summer and pre-season with Roberto De Zerbi’s first team squad.
