I was training with the first team when I was 15. I was playing in Notts County’s first team when I was 15 and I was in digs.”He continued: “Then one evening my dad knocked at the door with all the other players, and he said, ‘Son, we’re going to London, we’re going to go and speak to Arsenal’, and I was like, ‘Okay’.“I literally got my stuff, I jumped in a back of a Range Rover and we drove down to London. [They] showed me around Arsenal, showed me where they train, showed me this and that.“The next day we signed the contract and I was back home on the train coming back to Nottingham, preparing to get myself ready to go back to London. Are they really going to give him that opportunity because he’s so young?’“In Spain the football is different – it’s not as intense, not as physical and you probably have a better chance of making a name for himself abroad. If you really think you can make it work at Man United, then have the conversation with your peers, with whoever’s calling the shots. “But if you really believe that your game, and you’ll be better suited abroad at a Real Madrid or at a Barcelona and that’s your dream, then you go with it. “But don’t be forced into doing something just because your father or your agent or your mother or your brother – don’t be forced in doing something that you’re just trying to please people. “You have got to say, because it’s about you, you’re the player, the one who’s going to be playing.”
