Yusuf Akhamaric has looked good away from N17 too, but not every loan spell has gone to plan.Spurs Web can confirm that three of the 17 players sent out on loan from Tottenham have struggled for minutes and are yet to kick a ball.Souza secured a loan move to FC Porto but has not started or featured for the Portuguese side. Porto were keen on his signature in the summer, making it surprising that he has not made any appearances so far.Spurs agreed a season‑long loan with the Portuguese side, who will cover the full‑back’s wages, with no option to buy included in the deal.Tottenham are currently short on options at full‑back and have been forced to deploy Archie Gray in the role, following Pedro Porro’s injury – an issue expected to sideline the World Cup winner for at least a month.It has been reported that De Zerbi is a big admirer of Souza, and with the full‑back struggling for minutes, it remains to be seen whether Spurs will consider recalling him during the winter transfer window if the situation does not improve.Takai and Melia also yet to start away from SpursAlso on that list is Japanese youngster Kota Takai. The centre-back joined Belgian Pro League side STVV on loan this summer but has yet to get any minutes, although he has made the bench.There was plenty of buzz surrounding the move, given STVV’s Japanese ownership and history of working with players from the country, but that has not helped Takai’s case so far.The defender needs to get his career in Europe back on track after a disappointing loan spell last season with Borussia Mönchengladbach, where he struggled for minutes following a long-term injury.Rounding off the list is Mason Melia. The 19-year-old was signed from St Patrick’s Athletic in January 2025 before being loaned to Lincoln City this summer.However, he has not started in the Championship since his move, with a thigh injury keeping him sidelined.
