The Keeneland September Yearling Sale reached its 11th and penultimate day of trade Friday in Lexington, where a filly from the first crop of Classic-winning champion Arcangelo (Arrogate) topped the proceedings on a bid of $170,000 from Donato Lanni, as agent.Though Friday's gross receipts of $6,086,500 regressed by 9.54% versus the corresponding figure from the 2025 September Sale, the session average of $23,683 and median of $17,000 represented gains of 5.95% and 13.33%, respectively. From 78 fewer horses reported as sold this year, total turnover stood at $531,986,000 following Friday's business, a near 5% improvement from last year, while the average of $205,004 represented an advance of 8.1%. The median remained in the six figures at $100,000 and was ahead by 5.26% over 2025.With his sole purchase of hip 4107, Lanni was the session's leading buyer and the filly represented his 27th purchase of the auction. For a variety of ownership interests–predominantly Front Row Club/Starlight Stable/Madaket Stable–Lanni has signed for just over $15.1 million in bloodstock.Consigned by Penn Sales, agent for Hannah Smith, hip 4107 is the fourth foal from Mo's Love (Uncle Mo), a half-sister to six other winners, including SW Our Double Play (Grand Slam) and SW & GSP Cool Spell (Grand Slam). The latter is the dam of two-time stakes winner Coarsegold (Giant's Causeway), MGSP Impressive Edge (Harlan's Holiday) and SP Agog (More Than Ready).A May 4 foal, the gray filly was bred in Kentucky by Gage Hill Stable and William S. Farish and was making her second trip through the Keeneland sales pavilion, having been knocked down to A K Stables for $18,000 at this year's Keeneland January Sale. First-crop yearlings by the 2023 GI Belmont Stakes and GI Travers Stakes hero Arcangelo have been well received over the past two weeks at Keeneland, with 10 six-figure horses. The dearest of those was a $360,000 son of Chilean Group 1 winner Joke Sisi (Chi) (Practical Joke) selling to Pedro Lanz, agent for KAS Stable.Hip 3877, a colt by former Lane's End stallion Connect out of deep Stride Rite family, also made for a nice resale when hammering for $105,000 to III Beautys Thoroughbred LLC. A son of the unraced Beverly's Song (First Samurai), the chestnut had previously changed hands for $15,000 at this year's Fasig-Tipton February Sale.Keeneland a Happy Hunting Ground For 'Emerging' Racing NationsFor many years now, Keeneland has made a concerted effort to recruit buyers from some of the world's smaller racing jurisdictions, whose buyers do good and important work in supporting the sale at this level of the market.Russian buyers, for example, have struck with increasing frequency at Keeneland September, often times at the 'upper' end of the back books. The session's top-selling colt, a first-crop son of Pappacap (Gun Runner) out of Red River Hawk (Distorted Humor) was hammered down to owner Zalimkhan Koliakaev for $120,000.
