Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh offered KSI a dangerous fight with former heavyweight world champion Deontay Wilder.Alalshikh and KSI linked up last year to help promote the Fatal Fury video game, which acted as a main sponsor for two of Riyadh Season’s biggest cards.Alalshikh wanted KSI to face Wilder in what would have been an absurd crossover clashGettyThe pair met in London to discuss the partnership, and during that meeting Alalshikh presented KSI with the opportunity to box Wilder, according to the YouTuber-turned-boxer’s manager, Mams Taylor.“I think Turki wants to kill off all the YouTubers!” Taylor joked during an interview with The Sun.“No, I think Turki’s a great guy; he’s very passionate about boxing, and Deontay against KSI.“I mean, it’s a funny old world if that happens some day.“But when I heard that story that day, I was like, ‘We’re not doing that. We’re not doing that!'”KSI announced his retirement from boxing earlier this year, following a lengthy hiatus from the ring in the aftermath of his sole defeat to Tommy Fury in October 2023.While, on paper, it seems inconceivable that an athletic commission would sanction a fight between a former world champion and a novice boxer with only two pro bouts (1-1), we now know from Jake Paul‘s bout with Anthony Joshua last year that it is possible.The Florida Athletic Commission, in its infinite wisdom, gave that fight its blessing, resulting in Paul getting his jaw broken during a rather predictable knockout defeat.Thankfully, Taylor stepped in before KSI fell to the same fate against Wilder.“Sometimes, you’ve got to protect people you care about, and it’s not always about the cheque,” Taylor continued.KSI hasn’t boxed since his loss to Fury in October 2023Getty“If KSI really said, ‘I want to do it,’ I would equally come back with the same amount of force saying, ‘No, you can’t.
