I’m developing a structured pup/cosplay-style mask and I’m having trouble finding the right material. The photo on the left shows the type of structure I’m trying to achieve. It looks like a foam/neoprene-type material that can curve around the face while still holding a fairly rigid 3D shape. I tested 2 mm white neoprene with a polyester surface for sublimation printing, shown on the right. The printing surface is fine, but the material is far too soft and floppy. Once assembled, the muzzle just droops instead of keeping its shape. My requirements are: ideally around 2 to 3 mm thick flexible enough to curve around the face stiff enough to hold a self-supporting 3D muzzle shape low stretch white printable surface ideally polyester so I can use sublimation printing reasonably lightweight and comfortable for something worn on the face A supplier has suggested a material made from polyester interlock + foam + polyester interlock, sold as a 5 mm stabilizing foam. They can potentially make it thinner, which sounds promising. Does anyone know what this type of material is normally called in English, or have recommendations for a specific foam, neoprene grade, laminated fabric, bag stabilizer, cosplay foam, etc. that would work?
