Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney believes the current squad is weak and needed more signings in the transfer window.After only signing three outfield players, Man United have gone on to win just one of their opening five Premier League games.Rooney thinks Man United needed to do more summer business and now thinks their squad is ‘weak’ amid a poor start to the seasonGettyIt leaves them 12th in the table and ten points off the top, with any hopes of a potential title push already quashed.Pressure is starting to build on manager Michael Carrick too, following his permanent appointment in the summer.Rooney maintains hope that his old teammate and fellow club legend can turn things around after the international break.But he has admitted that he thinks United should have spent some more money over the summer to improve the squad.“There’s always going to be pressure, Michael knows that,” Rooney exclusively told talkSPORT at the premiere of his new Disney+ series ‘Real Rooneys’.“If you’re not winning football games at Man United, then that pressure is there if you don’t win one game.“So, it hasn’t been the ideal start to the season… there are certain things which I felt the club had to do before the window shut, in bringing players in… the squad is a bit weak.”How can Carrick turn things around?Rooney then added: “He’s got to find a way to get more and the best out of these players to get up the table after this international break… I think the break has come at the right time.“He’s shown that he can get results out of this group of players.“They have to get their head down and work and hopefully get some better results.”Carrick has only won one league game this season and Man United are sitting 12th in the table after five matchesGettyRooney: Carrick would have wanted moreRooney, who went through plenty of hardship himself as a manager, was then asked if he feels some sympathy for Carrick.The Man United manager only added Youri Tielemans, Carlos Baleba, Andrey Santos and Karl Darlow to his team over the summer. The Red Devils didn’t sign any new defenders or forwards, while Marcus Rashford has also returned to the fold this term.“He [Carrick] knows what’s in for there and listen, you always want more as a manager, I’m sure he would have wanted more from the transfer window, but he’s left with what he’s left with,” Rooney said.“I think the Premier League has got better, there’s better teams in there.“But if you don’t win at Man United, or at any club, at the minute it’s very tough, so I hope he turns it around.”Rooney spoke exclusively to talkSPORT from the premiere of his new Disney+ series ‘The Real Rooneys’GettyThe Real Rooneys airs on Disney Plus on September 24
