US Ambassador to Canada Pete Hoekstra issued a message of support for the Jewish community following the shooting outside a synagogue in Belleville, Ontario. "My thoughts and those of the American people are with the Jewish Community in Belleville following the attack on the Sons of Jacob Synagogue as they commemorated Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the Jewish year. All Canadians should be able to worship without worrying for their safety. The United States has offered assistance to support Canadian law enforcement and the Jewish community," Hoekstra stated.
