Formula 1 world champion Lando Norris has called on the FIA to ban Franco Colapinto for his Azerbaijan Grand Prix horror show.The McLaren driver was one of two other drivers, with the other being Colapinto’s Alpine teammate Pierre Gasly, who had their race ended by the Argentine’s costly restart error.Norris did not take kindly to the incidentGettyView Tweet: https://t.co/A4XqD9XUzpOn a lap 36 restart in the streets of Baku, Colapinto recklessly dive-bombed down the inside of the pack ahead going into Turn 1.His desperate attempt to be late on the brakes on his cold front tyres saw his Alpine car lock up and plough into his teammate Gasly.Colapinto, who had been running in 10th place, inadvertently triggered a multi-car pile-up, which also saw Norris tangled up in it.The latter, who was forced to retire alongside the two Alpines as a result of the crash, took a dim view of the incident.Norris says Colapinto should be bannedNorris, who stressed that he had not seen the replay at the time of speaking, claimed F1’s race stewards should come down hard on Colapinto’s driving.He said: “I think the FIA should be more strict and start handing out bans for this kind of stuff. It’s just careless from people.“It costs a lot of money; all my parts are in the bin now.
