McCarthy be a good fit for the Giants?The Minnesota Vikings signal caller lost a competition to Kyler Murray during the offseason, and isn’t likely to see much action, having also fallen behind Carson Wentz in the pecking order.McCarthy’s career has stalled in Minnesota and he could get a reset in NYGettyHis career in Minnesota has been a struggle to date, and the 10th overall pick of the 2024 draft could now be looking for a reset elsewhere.The Giants could offer just that, according to Pelissero.“Adding a passer who presents at least some sort of threat with his legs would be a logical move,” he said of New York.“In that regard, McCarthy is an intriguing option. The Giants extensively scouted him and the rest of the 2024 quarterback class before deciding to wait and take Dart in 2025.“While injuries derailed McCarthy’s time as QB1 in Minnesota, he was 6-4 as the starter last season. He has the athletic ability to run some of the QB movement concepts from Nagy’s playbook that figure to be largely dormant while Winston is in the lineup.“McCarthy is still in the third year of his rookie deal, making him a relatively low-cost option, with total 2027 compensation of about $3.775 million guaranteed. He played for Jim Harbaugh at Michigan. But his play style creates injury risk, and he will have missed 17 of 34 possible career games by season’s end.”Dart’s injury, no doubt, has been a major blow for the Giants.But the silver lining suggests they could land a replacement like McCarthy, and develop him into talent capable of steering the ship in the short term, before slipping back in behind Dart as a solid, young backup capable of relieving the pressure whenever required.
