Former Crystal Palace striker Clinton Morrison has gone against the grain in his assessment of Tottenham and has revealed what he expects to happen after the international break.An international break is always a bleak time for football fans, but it will be particularly painful for the Tottenham faithful, as it means their side will be rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table for three weeks.While the extended break provides Roberto De Zerbi and his players with a rest and a chance to start afresh, they certainly have a lot to chew on after a disastrous start to the campaign.De Zerbi has handed the non-international Spurs players a week off after a physically and emotionally draining month, with training set to resume at Hotspur Way at the start of next week.Credit: @reclusemedia / InstagramClinton Morrison expects Tottenham to thrash someone very soonMany pundits have been extremely critical of De Zerbi and Spurs for picking up just two points from five matches after spending big on reinforcing their squad in the summer.However, Clinton Morrison has seen signs that should encourage Tottenham fans over recent weeks despite the team’s poor results.The former Palace star is of the belief that Spurs’ luck will soon change in front of goal, and expects De Zerbi’s men to give one of their opponents a massive hiding.When asked about Tottenham’s poor start, the pundit told BBC Radio 5 Live’s Football Daily podcast: “Spurs were the better team in that first half and [Zion] Suzuki made three or four outstanding saves. I feel like we’ve been saying this a lot with Tottenham so far this season – dominating matches, not being clinical enough, and then getting punished.“The defending is nowhere near good enough, and they are conceding too many easy goals at the moment. It is a recipe for disaster. But, I do think they will turn it around, and I do think they will have a good season.“When it clicks for them, they are going to give some team a hiding very soon. I think they have good attacking players; they will score goals and win games at some point.”Despite Tottenham’s winless struggles, Morrison is still predicting De Zerbi to lead Spurs to a top six finish in the Premier League. Although he admits that is more to do with the fact that he doesn’t want to change his pre-season predictions after just a handful of games.Morrison admits De Zerbi has work cut out due to lack of goalscorerMorrison conceded that the one big worry for Tottenham is the lack of a top-class centre-forward in their squad despite their big summer investment.He admitted that De Zerbi now has the important role of ensuring his forwards’ confidence does not drop ahead of a winnable set of fixtures for his side after the international break.The 47-year-old added: “The only thing they have missed is when signing all these midfielders and attacking players, they have missed a centre forward. De Zerbi will not put his arm around you – it’s his way or the highway and you have to produce for him.“The hierarchy has backed him and given him the money, now he has to get results. But, their upcoming fixtures don’t look too bad.
