Filip Hrgovic believes he won’t have a tougher night as a professional than he did against Moses Itauma.The big Croatian weathered a hellacious storm in August to wrestle the vacant IBF heavyweight title from Itauma’s clutches at London’s O2 Arena.Hrgovic insists Itauma is the best heavyweight in the world in the aftermath of his victoryGettyItauma had been dominating proceedings through eight rounds and was way ahead on all three judges’ scorecards until his gas tank emptied in the ninth.Hrgovic took full advantage of Itauma’s exhaustion as he rebounded to stop the precocious talent against the ropes.The 34-year-old is now expected to return to the ring early next year in a homecoming fight in Croatia.Cuba’s Frank Sanchez is the IBF mandatory challenger after stepping aside to allow Hrgovic and Itauma to box for the red and gold strap.Once that fight is out of the way, Hrgovic has set his sights on unifications with the other champions in the division.Murat Gassiev holds the WBA title, while Kabayel is the WBC champion and Daniel Dubois, the only man to have ever beaten Hrgovic, is in possession of the WBO strap.Whilst Hrgovic acknowledges that the division’s most in-form fighters, Kabayel and Dubois, are more experienced and accomplished than Itauma, he is confident they are “much easier” propositions.Speaking during an appearance on talkSPORT’s White and Jordan show on Wednesday afternoon, Hrgovic said: “To be honest with you, I spoke to my friend, and I was still feeling very bruised a few days after the fight, and I said, ‘I don’t want to do this for long, a few more fights and that is it. I am feeling tired.“But after a week of rest, I got back to the gym and especially now, after three weeks, I have a totally different mentality.“I am definitely sure I want to unify the division. I worked so hard to get to this point. A lot of people tried to stop me from becoming a world champion.“I didn’t have a big country backing me. It was hell for me to get to this position, and now I am finally here; I want to stay as long as possible.“The only option for me now is to unify the division because I beat the hardest guy in the division.“I beat the most talented guy, the fastest guy, a southpaw.“And honestly, without any disrespect, I think fights with Kabayel and Dubois will be easier than this fight because they are not as fast and they are not southpaws.“They are easier to box.
