We are traveling internationally next month, staying for two months. It has taken us over three years of picking up extra work, making arrangements for life to keep ticking along normally here, stocking up so our roommate (the best!) won't have to provide anything for our pets that she is caring for while we are away, etc. It has been stressful, exhausting, and nonstop. It is going to be well worth it, but, not a thing we would do if we were unable to pay it all ourselves. My husband even rejected financial assistance from his family in his native country, (which is where we are going.) The cheapest way to pay for anything is with one's own money, and we want to be free to come and go as we please. The folks making this GFM or whatever it is are delusional. You have to pay for necessities before you take luxury vacations.
