Little things that have made this job downright miserable for me.

Wait 5 sec.

So unrewarding. Wait hold up, yes I know I’m a cashier, I don’t get to feel like a UN member or something. But like at least I could feel like I’m helping in some way yk? Or maybe making a customers day. But with scrimping policies from management, and how adds can easily increase the price so much. I feel bad, I can’t give customers enough, while almost tricking them into increasing their total. I’m so stretched I barely have time to finish my job, let alone help my coworkers. Plus every time I make a mistake my manager damn sure lets me know. I made a mistake ringing up an order, I got lectured front of customers. Or when I do my job fine 99% of the time, doesn’t matter. Have way too many responsibilities for way too little pay. I make minimum wage. Like I have to do line work, cook, cashier, clean both back of house and front of house, bathrooms, even clean the parking lot, throw trash, you name I have to do it. Store is understaffed. We often only have 3 people, so if a rush comes we literally are screwed. I have not had a break or employee meal in weeks. Because here in Canada you need to hit 5hrs to receive both. And everyone but closing/non managers get 4hrs 45 mins. I litteraly get no time to myself. I litteraly have to get someone to cover for me to go to the bathroom so I can have a breather. Cause if manager catches me sitting im cooked. Management is just mean. I don’t expect praises or all that. But like my manager for the life of me can’t talk to me respectfully. Not like she insults me outright, but just everything about her talking to me. Her tone, her expressions, her language. All out right just is rude and condescending. She lectured me about a single yawn once, and as expo she can’t even properly tell me what orders we had. And is also rude to customers, yet wonders why our sales suck. 0 incentives. If I do my work fast and well, guess what I have to do another thing. If I don’t do it fast and well, I get lectured like I’m in middle school. Just lose lose situation. submitted by /u/Difficult_Town3584 [link] [comments]
