TotalEnergies, a French multinational energy company, has secured a three-month contract to exclusively supply Namibia’s bulk fuel requirements from November 2026 to January 2027. TotalEnergies won the contract after a competitive bidding process by the Ministry of Industries, Mines & Energy. The company will supply approximately 345.3 million litres of fuel (246.9 million litres of diesel and 98.4 million litres of petrol). By securing the country’s fuel at below the benchmark import price, the deal is expected to reduce Namibia’s overall fuel import costs and help limit the impact of rising global fuel prices on local pump prices. TotalEnergies offered to supply diesel at 61 cents below Namibia’s Basic Fuel Price (BFP) and petrol at 71 cents below the BFP, resulting in a projected saving of approximately N$220.5 million over the three-month period. The BFP is the benchmark used to calculate the cost of importing fuel into Namibia before additional local costs, levies, and margins are added.
