Ugandans can now access financial, physical, mental and nutritional wellness tools from a single digital platform, following the launch of Thrive by Old Mutual, a new wellness application designed to help users make healthier and more informed choices in their everyday lives. The application brings together practical information, tools and support aimed at helping users manage different aspects of their wellbeing, from building better financial habits and planning for the future to improving physical fitness, nutrition and mental health. Old Mutual Uganda unveiled the application at the Thrive Launch at MoTIV, Bugolobi, bringing together customers, partners, wellness professionals, fitness communities and other stakeholders for an interactive experience centred on holistic wellbeing. The launch comes amid growing concerns about mental health and other pressures affecting Ugandans’ quality of life. The National Planning Authority’s State of Uganda Population Report 2025, themed “Mental Health: A Silent Emergency”, reported that mental-health cases increased by more than 71 per cent between 2021 and 2024, with nearly one in four Ugandans affected. The challenges, however, are not limited to mental health. Financial pressures, physical health, nutrition and mental wellbeing are closely interconnected, influencing how people work, make decisions, manage relationships and plan for the future. Thrive seeks to respond to these challenges by bringing the different dimensions of wellness together in one digital experience, allowing users to access resources that can help them make informed choices and develop healthier habits. Speaking at the launch, Zac Kisesi, managing director of Old Mutual Investment Group Uganda, said financial wellbeing should be viewed as an important component of a person’s overall health. “Financial wellbeing is not simply about how much money a person earns; it is about the confidence to make informed decisions, plan for the future and steadily work towards the life you want,” Kisesi said. “Through Thrive, we make financial wellness more accessible and practical by helping people build better habits and engage with their financial goals as part of everyday life.” Andrew Makumbi, managing director of Old Mutual Insurance Uganda, said the application reflects a shift in the role of insurers from simply responding to problems to helping customers reduce risks and live healthier lives. The post Wellness App could be game changer for financial, mental and physical health appeared first on The Observer Media Ltd.
