Eswaraiah has condemned the alleged attacks and lathi-charge during the YSR Congress Party’s protest outside the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) office here over alleged irregularities in DSC sports quota appointments.In a statement on Tuesday, Mr. Eswaraiah said using force to suppress public protests was against the spirit of democracy. Peaceful protests against alleged injustices and irregularities were a fundamental right guaranteed to people in a democracy, he said.Mr. Eswaraiah said the developments had led to allegations that the government was adopting a vindictive approach.
