Missing Mangaluru man found murdered in Sharjah; wife and son missing - The HinduUpdated - September 23, 2026 11:45 pm IST - MANGALURUAlwyn Prakash Kunder from Kundapur in Udupi district was working at Sharjah Airport for the last 14 years.A 50-year-old man identified as Alwyn Prakash Kunder hailing from Kundapur in Udupi district is suspected to have been murdered in Sharjah while his wife and son are reportedly missing.His brother Anil Prashanth Kunder in Kundapur believes that the murder could have taken place after July 20 as Alwyn contacted him last over phone on July 20.Speaking to presspersons after submitting a petition to Udupi Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar on September 22 seeking help in the case, Mr. Anil said Alwyn was working for a private airliner as a senior manager at Sharjah Airport for the last 14 years.He said Alwyn had visited Kundapur last in December 2025. His wife Tina, a native of Udyavara in Udupi, works as a school teacher in Sharjah, while their son is studying in class 10.The family members in Kundapur grew suspicious when Alwyn began sending text messages after July 20 instead of voice messages or making telephone calls. He did not reply to calls made by Mr. Anil.Mr. Anil contacted Alwyn’s classmate Manohar in Sharjah and asked to check on him. When Mr. Manohar went to the flat provided to Alwyn by his company, the watchman informed that he was in India. When Mr. Anil contacted the company’s HR department, the passport check indicated that he was in Sharjah. Mr. Anil then filed a missing person complaint with the company.The Sharjah police on August 12 found his body cut into pieces, filled in two bags, and stuffed in the boot of a car parked on a road towards Oman. His family in Kundapur received Alwyn’s death certificate on September 21.Now, mystery surrounds the missing wife and son. Back home, the family is awaiting for the body after completing legal procedures. The family has also sought further details from the authorities in Sharjah regarding the murder, the circumstances in which Alwyn’s body was found, and the whereabouts of his wife and son.Meanwhile, Mr. Shankar said in a statement on Wednesday: “I would like to clarify that the victim’s brother had submitted a petition seeking assistance in the case. However, unless a letter rogatory or Red Corner notice or Interpol notices are issued against the alleged accused, there is no legal measure to be done from the Udupi police at this point of time. However, we are arranging contacts in the Dubai consulate so that the family can co-ordinate the progress of the investigation.
