DVAC books Mettupalayam Municipal Commissioner, 10 others - The HinduUpdated - September 23, 2026 11:47 pm IST - COIMBATOREThe Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) on Wednesday (September 23) registered a case against 11 persons, including the Commissioner of Mettupalayam Municipality, in connection with the seizure and digital transactions involving suspected unaccounted for money to the tune of ₹7.11 lakh, which was detected in a surprise check conducted by the agency on Tuesday.Of the 11 persons booked, two are private persons and the remaining are officials at the municipality office, including the Commissioner, said a senior DVAC officer. An 11-member team comprising Inspector D. Sheela and another Inspector began the surprise check at the office around 3.15 p.m. on Tuesday. The DVAC team searched the office, vehicles of officials and examined their mobile phones. The search continued up to 5.15 a.m., Wednesday.Sources said the DVAC team seized ₹ 1,38,900 in unaccounted cash from the office. Similarly, examination of mobile phones showed UPI transactions involving suspected unaccounted for money to the tune of ₹5,72,399.The DVAC on Wednesday registered a First Information Report in connection with the search and booked the 11 persons under provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
