I’m building Carvia for car listings — where would you draw the line on AI photo editing?

Wait 5 sec.

I’m building Carvia, a workspace for independent dealerships with vehicle inventory, costs and photo preparation. The part I’d like feedback on is Carvia Studio: tools for cleaner backgrounds, lighting adjustments and showroom-style vehicle images. There’s a tension here: a tidy photo makes a listing easier to read, but an edit that changes the car can make it less trustworthy. My rule for an actual sale listing would be: improve the surroundings, never conceal the condition. Keep the original available, compare the edited image against it, and check paint, panel edges, badges, wheels, scratches and reflections before publishing. Wheel or colour previews should be clearly labelled as visualizations, not presented as the car for sale. If you were buying a used car, would you prefer: • Original photos only; • Edited photos with the originals beside them; or • A simple “background edited” label, provided the vehicle itself is unchanged? I’d also like to hear from anyone preparing listings: is taking a consistent set of photos the bigger problem, or editing and uploading them afterwards? Product context: https://carvia.io/tools/car-to-studio Disclosure: this is my product. The public free demo is currently paused; I’m sharing this for feedback on the workflow, not promising a free generation. submitted by /u/Ok_Carpenter_6099 [link] [comments]
