Maltese fashion house Charles & Ron has celebrated a deeply personal milestone on the international stage, unveiling its Spring/Summer 2027 collection during London Fashion Week as the designers mark 35 years since they first met.Entitled A Love Affair, the collection was presented on 18th September at St John’s Church Hyde Park in London, during London Fashion Week powered by Art Hearts Fashion and Fashion Week & the City. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Lovin Malta (@lovinmalta)The collection looks back at 35 years of Charles & Ron, revisiting the colours, symbols, prints and techniques that have shaped the fashion house while transforming them for a new chapter.Malta remains firmly at its heart, with designs drawing inspiration from village festas, Marsaxlokk, the iconic luzzu eye, the crown of St Helena and traditional bandalori.The show also featured a special reunion with Maltese model Matthew Saliba, who walked for Charles & Ron during some of their earliest shows in Malta before returning to the runway for the designers in London.Another distinctly Maltese element came through traditional handwoven Gozitan wide-brimmed hats, made from palm leaves using a technique passed down through generations. Charles & Ron reimagined the hats with their signature details, placing the increasingly rare local craft on an international runway.Archival scarves were also transformed into dresses through ruching, draping and pleating, while hand-beaded fabrics inspired by the decorative art of Maltese festas added to the celebratory feel.The collection’s pastel palette brings together Charles & Ron’s signature lilac with butter yellow, soft orange, lime green, mint and light blue, alongside ombré effects and recurring stripes.At its core, A Love Affair celebrates 35 years of creativity, friendship and fashion, while serving as a love letter to Malta and the Mediterranean influences that have shaped Charles & Ron since the beginning.Thirty-five years after Charles and Ron first met in Amsterdam, the love affair continues.Photos by Mark Gunter/Getty images for Art hearts Fashion•
