KORA 3477 is envisioned as a self-sustaining vertical landmark rooted in the unique landscape and cultural identity of Ladakh. Located within a glacial valley of the high-altitude cold desert, the project responds to the region's rugged terrain, fragile ecosystem, limited resources, and harsh climatic conditions. The design reinterprets Ladakh's traditional terraced monastery settlements as vertically stacked neighborhoods, integrating living spaces, breakout areas, retail, and essential services within a compact planning system. High thermal-mass cores, passive solar strategies, and compact circulation help regulate extreme diurnal temperature variations, while sky-bridges function as cultural promenades, structural braces, and emergency routes.
