Woman’s friend of 5 years said she met ‘a guy’. She didn’t expect to get caught when her location led straight to the ex the woman had just dumped

Wait 5 sec.

Two weeks after a breakup, Sophia Elizabeth (@sofiaelizabethsbackup) took to TikTok claiming that her friend of five years was secretly seeing her ex-boyfriend. In a video that has over 7.2 million views, the Los Angeles-based TikToker seemed to taunt this woman to out herself while she shared how she learned of this alleged relationship with the man she had been dating for six months, over 24 hours.  In her video, Sophia made two specific claims to establish the timelines of the relationships. One was that the woman met the ex on Sophia’s birthday trip earlier in January. The second was that she had broken up with her boyfriend around two weeks earlier, specifically 11 days earlier. She also mentioned that he lived in the same apartment building as her. The day before she made the video, Sophia told her viewers that she learned the woman’s location showed she was in the building. She claimed that this came from a common friend who asked if they were hanging out together, since the woman’s location pinged at the building for three nights. Sophia alleged that others reached out, saying, “There is two separate people who, on their own, saw that you were here.” When this second friend confronted the woman about why she was at the complex, the woman allegedly said, “I met a guy last night, and that’s why I slept over here.”  Sophia claimed there were many lies of omission According to her post, Sophia tried to talk it out with the woman. However, as she followed her location, Sophia claimed to observe some damning coincidences: her ex’s car was missing around the same time the woman left, and the woman’s location was at a cafe only her ex-boyfriend knew about. Then she told her viewers that the location was abruptly turned off.  @sofiaelizabethsbackup My ex of 11 days vs 5 years of friendship #storytime ♬ original sound – Sofia Elizabeth Sophia claimed the woman was messaged by many friends and denied being with the ex multiple times. She said that turning off the location “just made it so much worse. An innocent person wouldn’t do that.” Sofia recounted that the woman eventually sent her a text that read, “This feels like high school.” Sofia asked her viewers and the woman in her post, “Who made it high school? Did anyone force you to be with my ex-boyfriend that I broke up with two weeks ago?” Even though Sophia never used the word betrayal, it’s clear that she was upset. According to wikiHow, feelings of jealousy, self-consciousness, sadness, and anger are incredibly common in these situations. The counselor author suggests that if you find yourself in this position, it is important to allow yourself to feel those emotions rather than repressing them.  They suggest that one way to get over the situation is to talk to the friend to express your feelings and set boundaries. They also recommend that other methods include distancing yourself if necessary to heal and, importantly, focusing on your own interests and hobbies to regain a sense of self outside of the drama. On the flip side, Michelle Cantrell, a licensed professional clinical counselor, told Verywell Mind that while dating a friend’s ex is not always strictly off-limits, it is “complicated.” She emphasizes that transparency and empathy are the most important factors if you value the friendship.  According to Cantrell, if you care about the relationship, you must be honest before getting involved. She also warns that if there was any abuse, manipulation, or betrayal in the original relationship, dating the ex is absolutely off the table, as it risks retraumatizing the friend. Sophia claimed that her attempts at talking it out failed, and she ultimately decided to distance herself. She said, “My stance isn’t based on one thing or one person, but evidence I’ve seen directly. From turning off your location, your inconsistent story, and being with him in private and public.” She went on to allege, “This isn’t about me wanting to control who you follow or who you see. It’s all about being open. On honesty and respect, which you don’t have for me.” Sophia’s comment section was pretty sympathetic. One user wrote, “From a friend of 5 years?? The betrayal,” while another commented, “It’s basic friendship code to not go after your friends ex.” Others felt the situation was unnecessary, with one user saying, “This is so highschool drama … girll.” Another noted, “Could we please normalize the idea that we don’t own our exes, or dictate what our friends do in their personal lives.” According to the comments section, the woman did respond in her stories. Additionally, this story is based on Sophia’s claims and shouldn’t be considered verifiable fact. Sofia ended this chapter of her life with a simple sentiment: “I wish you well and him, but I’m stepping back from this.”
