Punjab Police on Sunday lathi charged student protestors outside Lovely Professional University campus after the demonstrations turned violent. The protests were initiated following the alleged rape of a female student by an outsider at the university. Earlier, the protests had taken a violent turn with students destroying property and climbing atop a MiG 23UM aircraft installed in the campus as well as a military tank.
