NXPI daily: touching 238 is not holding 238NXP Semiconductors NVBATS:NXPIcrypticcrypto11238 is still the ceiling. NXPI closed Friday at 238.08. That print sits on the same horizontal that capped August and tagged the September highs. Touching it is not the same as holding it. From the June high near 340, the daily sold inside a descending channel for three months. Upper rail rejected July and most of August. Lower rail caught the August flush near 219. That channel is the context. After the late-July / early-August wash, price stopped making lower lows and started rotating in a box: Floor: 219 Mid: 228 Ceiling: 238 August tried 238 and failed. Early September spent two weeks hugging 219–231. Mid-September finally closed above the upper channel rail, then came back and tested it. That retest held. The channel that used to cap the tape is now behind price. Leaving a channel is a change of location. It is not a green light through the next shelf. Friday opened 231.20, traded 230.22–239.24, and closed 238.08. Week is up about 3%. Month is up about 6%. Three-month is still down about 18%. The bounce is real. The larger decline is not repaired. 238 is where those two facts meet. A close on 238 is a test. Acceptance is a close through it that does not give the level back the next session. 238 — first decision. Hold it as support and the range is finished. Lose it and this is still the same August–September box. 228 — mid of the box. First place a failed breakout usually lands. 219 — floor of the box and the August spike low. Lose 219 and the channel break is just a tour above the rail. 249 / 261 — first supply if 238 actually accepts. Those are prior daily shelves from the way down, not fantasy targets. Do not trade the touch. Trade whether 238 keeps the close. Acceptance: daily closes hold above 238, pullbacks stay above it, 249 becomes the next number. Rejection: long upper wick or a close back under 238, then 228 and 219 are the map again. Invalidation of the breakout: daily acceptance back under 219. Same rule as any shelf. $238 is resistance until price accepts above it. $249 only matters after that.
