Noel Gallagher has revealed one of the reasons why he doesn’t support England.The Oasis star is well-known for being an avid Manchester City fan, but he won’t be following England as fervently during the World Cup.Gallagher is a lifelong Manchester City fan, but he doesn’t support EnglandGetty‘I couldn’t get behind that’And speaking to Andy Goldstein and Darren Bent on talkSPORT Breakfast, Gallagher put his lack of affinity for the national team in part down to his club’s bitter rivals, Manchester United.“It’s one of the reasons why I’m not an England fan,” said the 59-year-old. “Because when I was growing up, it was all Liverpool and United players [in the England team]. “I couldn’t get behind that, you know.”But he will get behind England’s Man City players – including John Stones, who leaves the club at the end of his contract this summer.“I love seeing John there,” Gallagher continued. “John’s my mate and he’s coming to the end of his time at City…he’s coming to the end of his career. It’s great to see him at a World Cup.“[Marc] Guehi looks solid as he always does…and Erling [Haaland] – I mean, we’re all Norway fans when he plays.”Gallagher ‘expecting big things’ from City starGallagher also looked ahead to next season, which will be Man City’s first following the departure of Pep Guardiola.Enzo Maresca is expected to succeed Guardiola in the Etihad Stadium dugout, with England midfielder Elliot Anderson edging towards a big-money move from Nottingham Forest.And Gallagher is hopeful of Anderson and Rodri forging a strong partnership in the middle of the park.“He’s [Rodri] a Ballon d’Or winner for a reason,” Gallagher pointed out, “and you don’t just lose it overnight.Rodri is captaining spain at the 2026 World CupGetty“I’m expecting big things from him next season.
