Marvel’s next big game, a free-to-play mobile ARPG gacha, is leaking all over the internet

Wait 5 sec.

After the success of hero shooter Marvel Rivals, the comics and entertainment company has its sights set on another money-making game genre: a free-to-play action RPG with gacha mechanics. The new game is currently in testing and doesn’t have a concrete title yet, and is currently known as Project Comet. Data miners have been having a blast sharing leaks over the past few days, including everything from the game’s roster to short gameplay clips. If you’ve heard that name, you’ve likely also heard of some of its most popular mobile titles, like Pokémon Go, MONOPOLY GO!, or Marvel Strike Force. Leaked footage shows Marvel characters like Juggernaut along with on-screen mobile button press prompts, but that’s just the start of what’s been revealed by data mines. A lengthy roster of heroes was also found in the current build, according to data mining collective @X0X_LEAK: Playable Characters: Wolverine Doctor Strange Captain America Doctor Octopus Invisible Woman Elektra Spider-Man War Machine Upcoming Playables: Juggernaut Black Widow Beast Hulk Jean Grey Scarlet Witch Thor Trusted and prolific leaker @multiversusie has been all over the data mine front, sharing everything from character models and portraits to full-fledged video clips like the Twitter post above. I’m already quite intrigued by this game’s apparent inclusion of villainous characters like Doctor Octopus and Silver Samurai, which is something Marvel Rivals has shied away from in large part. But as for action RPG gacha gameplay? Not really my thing, and neither is gaming on my phone. Maybe this will be the one to snag me. We’ll see what shakes out with Project Comet over the coming months and years, but Marvel is well aware of how valuable its IP is and has been hard at work pushing out several games over the past few years.0The post Marvel’s next big game, a free-to-play mobile ARPG gacha, is leaking all over the internet appeared first on Destructoid.
