Yes. My job requires a fair amount of writing, and management sends my work back with instructions to remove the em dashes, because “we don’t want to give the impression that we used AI.” Fine, except that I can show you papers that I wrote in college 30 years ago, when AI wasn’t on anyone’s radar and certainly wasn’t available to the masses. I feel like I have to water down my writing and be less precise in my language so that people don’t think AI wrote it.
