Triple Crown winner and Horse of the Year American Pharoah (by Pioneerof the Nile) is set to stand at the Shizunai Stallion Station in Japan for a second breeding season in partnership with the Japan Bloodhorse Breeders' Association (JBBA), before returning to his base at Coolmore America's Ashford Stud, according to a post on the farm's website on Friday.“American Pharoah has proven extremely popular with breeders in Japan, so we have agreed with the JBBA to extend his stay for another season,” said Ashford Stud manager Dermot Ryan. “He will continue to be looked after by an Ashford Stud groom until he returns to Kentucky.”American Pharoah has sired 70 winners from 93 runners in Japan with a strike rate of over 75%. Among them are ten black-type scorers, most notably Cafe Pharoah, a dual winner of the G1 February Stakes.“We are delighted that breeders here will get the opportunity to send their mares to American Pharoah for a second season,” said JBBA Executive Vice President Yoshiharu Ueno. “He's an iconic horse with worldwide appeal and everyone here is already looking forward to the arrival of his first Japanese foals next year.”The post Coolmore’s American Pharoah To Stand Second Breeding Season In Japan appeared first on TDN | Thoroughbred Daily News | Horse Racing News, Results and Video | Thoroughbred Breeding and Auctions.
